Senior Communications Specialist

The Murray Road Agency is seeking a strategic communicator with experience in public relations, communication and/or marketing. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day client and media relationships, providing strategic communications counsel, and driving successful public relations initiatives. Knowledge of the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, shooting and boating is a plus.

This new hire should be able to write with intent in regards to messaging, branding and audience and have a demonstrated ability to do so in a variety of subject areas/markets. This position will be located in Charleston, South Carolina (In-Office).

Responsibilities:

• Writing, editing and managing content.
• Monitoring metrics and reporting to clients.
• Leading client meetings.
• Developing and leading campaign strategies.
• Identifying new opportunities for clients.
• Communicating with media regularly to secure coverage opportunities.
• Managing media inquiries.

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, business, sales or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience.
• Shows a high level of attention to detail and strategic thinking.
• Skilled writer and editor.
• Experience in managing multiple accounts and projects.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with media, clients and industry partners.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Crisis communications experience.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Experience with analytics and reporting.
