Murray Road Honors Military Appreciation Month

Murray Road Honors Military Appreciation Month

At Murray Road, a leader in outdoor industry communications, we proudly recognize Military Appreciation Month (May) and honor U.S. military veterans and active service members. We deeply appreciate their commitment to protecting our freedom, and we are grateful for their sacrifices and bravery.

As an agency immersed in the outdoor industry, Murray Road has collaborated with a wide variety of military members and veterans. In the course of the agency’s eight-year history, we have had the honor of partnering with an array of companies and organizations that serve the needs and interests of our nation’s veterans.

These partnerships are built on shared values such as commitment, hard work and growth. The opportunity to partner with military members and veterans is both professionally rewarding and personally meaningful, and Murray Road is always honored to work with and support those who have served.

This year’s Military Appreciation Month holds a special significance with the Murray Road team, as we proudly welcome back our own Mark Webb from his most recent deployment. Mark is currently in his 15th year of service with the U.S. Army Reserves and has been a key multimedia specialist at Murray Road for over five years.

As our multimedia specialist, Mark brings stories to life through his expertise in graphic design, videography, photography and animation. His service has deepened his technical skills and knowledge of firearms, further enhancing the creative work that he offers Murray Road. We thank him for his service and are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside him.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Griffin, Georgia, which is about 45 minutes south of Atlanta.

Where did you go to college?

I started at Gordon State College (Barnesville, Georgia), graduated from there and went onto Georgia Southern University to pursue a degree in graphic design and a minor in marketing.

When did you join the military?

I joined when I was 17 during my junior year of high school and I am now 34 so I have been in for a while.

How often do you train?

I train one weekend out of the month and spend the rest of the time working for Murray Road.

Where is your Army Reserve base?

It’s located in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

What is your role in the U.S. Army Reserves?

My MOS is 74D (CBRN or NBC for the old school guys). I am a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist. My job consists of wearing a hazmat suit and protecting against CBRN threats, conducting CBRN reconnaissance and performing decontamination operations. I am also a unit public affairs representative (UPAR) which allows me to capture and document both video and photo of my unit’s training and operations.

How many countries have you been deployed to?

I have been deployed to two countries which are Kuwait and Jordan.

Can you share about your experience overseas during your most recent deployment?

I did a 9-month tour in Kuwait and mobilized to a couple different locations from there. We ran a couple of training missions with some of our allies and ran a few armed security details. The weather in the Middle East is hot like no other. During the summer days it was 120 degrees and 100 degrees at night, but you get acclimated to it. I am grateful to be able to experience it and serve our great country.

What has your experience been like as a member of the military and Murray Road employee?

Being both is very beneficial. The military has started and expanded my knowledge and love for firearms. There is a large number of veterans in this industry and it’s nice attending different events (such as the SHOT Show) with like-minded people. Being around familiar territory makes it easier to film shoots and work with clients.

In what ways has Murray Road supported you as a member of the military?

I truly appreciate Murray Road for being a military friendly company. There are times where my military training days fall on work days and the Murray Road team is very understanding and flexible. It’s the small things done in America for the military that makes the tough days during training and operations worthwhile.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work with Murray Road or on duty with the Army Reserves?

I’m a country boy at heart so I like to spend my weekends on the lake or river, chasing crappie, bass or catfish.

We hope you enjoyed learning more about Mark and his meaningful service in the Army Reserves. At Murray Road, we are grateful for Mark and for all the men and women who serve and have served our nation. Murray Road is appreciative of the opportunities we have had to work alongside military members and veterans within our industry and to support them through impactful partnerships. While May is dedicated to recognizing our military’s bravery and sacrifices, our appreciation extends far beyond just this month. Thank you to all of our Nation’s veterans and military members.
