ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – June 6, 2025 – SK Guns®, the Nation’s only series-driven, limited-edition manufacturer of custom firearms, is proud to announce its second production in the “Conquerors Series.” Commemorative of Conquistador Hernán Cortés, this is a limited-edition production of only 200 Colt 1911 Classic Royal Blue pistols chambered in .38 Super.
Cortés is best known for leading the conquest of the Aztec Empire. During this time there were moments of relatively peaceful and cooperative relations between him and the Aztecs. These cases of diplomacy with Aztec Emperor Montezuma II and his people most often came during the early stages of the expedition, which began in February 1519.
Cortés made use of interpreters, notably La Malinche – a Nahua woman from the Mexican Gulf Coast who became known for contributing to the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. She helped to communicate effectively and build relationships. Through her, he was able to understand Aztec customs, political dynamics and religious beliefs, which helped avoid immediate conflict and foster early cooperation.
Although these peaceful interactions were short-lived and eventually gave way to violence and conquest, they show that Cortés’s relationship with the Aztecs was not solely based on hostility from the beginning. There were initial attempts at diplomacy and mutual understanding, which played a crucial role in shaping the early phases of contact between the two civilizations.
“In history, the name Cortés is synonymous with the word Conqueror. Bringing the Spanish Empire to the Americas, the conquistador was instrumental in the formation and the culture of Latin America,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Guns. “We are excited to pay homage to Cortés and the lasting impacts that are still prevalent today.”
The left side of the slide depicts scenes of Cortés entering the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlán, including imagery of battle and Cortés on horseback. These images are accompanied by subtle shading of the Gulf of Mexico and the Conquistador’s journey. The right side of the slide shows Cortés and his men on ships entering the Gulf of Mexico as they first make contact with the Aztec civilization. The entire pistol features a highly polished royal blue finish with 24k gold plating borders and accents.
The forward top of the slide features a portrait of Cortés, with the rear of the slide boasting the conquistadors’ Coat of Arms. A floral scroll complements the entire firearm, and the grips have been engraved with the theme of the series showcasing a range of historic weaponry on one side opposite Cortés on horseback.
The second installation in this series is available here for an MSRP of $2,850 and will begin shipping August 2025. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to be the first to learn of our newest production launches.
