Season 3, Episode 18 features Savage’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Robert Gates on a long-anticipated quest for a New Zealand Red Stag.
The scene is set by towering mountain ranges that frame the vast wilderness, rolling emerald hills and thick, mist-laden forests. Gates equipped himself with the Savage Impulse KLYM chambered in 7mm PRC as he delved into a world shaped by nature alone. Originally planned for 2020, this trip was years in the making. After restlessly waiting and preparing for this hunt, Gates was awarded the chance to claim an ultimate trophy. More than that, Gates was given the opportunity to immerse himself in one of the most pristine hunting environments on Earth that presented a wealth of challenges along the way.
A hunt characterized by arduous hikes and intense tracking, Gates relied on his guide’s deep knowledge of the land as they traversed the South Island in the crisp morning air. The story of this journey is as much about the hunt, as it is about the hallowed grounds on which this long-held aspiration was realized.
